Welcome back since the last blog post where I talked about my process to creating the idea of Streets of Rebellion a lot has happened. For example the overall scope of the game had to be reduced as both me and some lectures had worries that the scope of the game was getting a bit to far out of reach and decided to only focus on the level design and environmental design of the game. which was the main focus of this project and the main skill I wanted to improve my the end of this project

I'm now finished with the design side of the game and now the process of creating the game begins. I have started out by setting up my version control as well as setting up my scales within my unity project using some of the outsourced models I will be using for NPC character that I got from miximo. After that was all setup I setup my player character along with some basic movement.

Once I had a player with some basic movement I moved onto greyboxing out the level to get an idea for scale of the map along with how the player feels while in the map. The idea was to try and follow along with the image below as this was the original plan for the map layout while I was designing the game.

However while designing the greybox for the level in engine some area had to have minor adjustments made to them to make everything fit as well as a couple of added thing to the design that I thought would add to the environmental design. As seen in the image below of the grey boxed level in engine I decided to add in a gatehouse as show in red to give the walled city a entrance and a exit as well as making this the point of the game where they player start off the game. On top of that a few extra building we added to bulk of the city and reduce the amount of dead space in the city.

Over the next couple of week the main plans are to finish up the player movement, begin the code for the interactable objects, NPC dialogue and interactions as well as star the creation of some of the house models for the city and start swapping out the greybox for those completed buildings to start to get a proper feel for the city.
